Burgenland´s white wines

M.Stelzhammer / Wein Burgenland

Over 30 grape varieties are officially approved for the production of quality wines in Burgenland. Although most wine lovers associate Burgenland with red and sweet wines, it shouldn’t be forgotten that white wine varieties account for almost 50% of the wine surface in Burgenland. Full-bodied and regionally typical Burgundian varieties such as Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay flourish in the vineyards. Remarkable Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc are also produced in Burgenland.

White wines from Burgenland impress with their delicate golden tones, fruity aromas and perfect balance on the palate. Their power, ripeness and harmony are second-to-none and their discreet elegance and lasting charm go well with any dish. The wines have a subtle and ripe bouquet and a perfect balance of fruit and acidity which accentuate the finest aromas in any cuisine. That is the essence of white wines from Burgenland: they provide the perfect accompaniment for most dishes without fading into the background.
